Year in Review 1st July 2024 - 1st July 2025

EVENTS ORGANISED:

  • Over 100 protests and leafleting events.

LEAFLETS DISTRIBUTED:

  • 50,000

EMAILS / MESSAGES FROM THE PUBLIC:

  • We received hundreds of emails and messages via our social media pages in the past year from members of the public asking questions, seeking advice, requesting information, reporting animal cruelty and wanting to join our campaigns.

CAMPAIGN NEWS:

  • We supplied activists around the country with leaflets to campaign in their own areas for a ban on hare coursing and a ban on pig farming.
  • In March, we released our second investigation on the pig industry in Ireland – covering 4 pig farms in Cavan this time. This resulted in both media and political coverage, and another ongoing Dept. of Agriculture investigation. Social media views of our full video and clips of the investigation have surpassed 500,000 at this point.
  • We organised events twice a week, every week, and travelled the country doing leaflet drops, outreach and canvassing for the bill to ban hare coursing and our new campaign to ban pig farming too. We also lobbied many TDs during protests outside the Dept. of Agriculture.
  • We supported the ICABS protest at the hare coursing finals in Clonmel.
  • We had information stall at the Radical Bookfair.
  • Gave a presentation on animal rights at the Eco-Socialist Summer Camp.
  • Attended, in solidarity, marches on issues such as bodily autonomy, anti-racism, anti-fascism, Palestine, Dublin Pride, Trans & Intersex Pride.
  • Sent in numerous FOIs to the Dept. of Agriculture, as well as PQs via TDs, on hare coursing and pig farming.
  • Continued our joint efforts with SAFR Ireland on the ‘Ban Botox Testing on Animals’ campaign.
  • Took part in various radio and newspaper interviews, and debates on animal rights issues throughout the year.
  • Worked with a number of ‘left’ politicians during the General Election, to ensure pledges of support for animal rights issues, as well as guiding them on animal rights related manifestos and policies.
  • Worked with ‘Freedom for Animals UK’ on the issue of Dublin Zoo, and organised joint protests.
  • Along with ICABS, we worked with Ruth Coppinger TD ahead of her introduction of her bill to ban fox hunting.
  • We also worked with Paul Murphy TD ahead of an historic first for Ireland, the introduction of his ‘Welfare of Pigs’ bill, which would essentially obliterate the industry if approved.
